Poetry in precious metals TM

Mokume is translated from Japanese as "wood-eye" and gane, "metal." This refers to the unique pattern created in the finished pieces that resembles the grain of wood.

Mokume gane was originally developed in 17th century Japan by Denbei Shoami. The process was developed to adorn the sword handles and sheaths of samurai swords.

At Elkin Studio Jewelers we fabricate mokume-gane in several styles: traditional silver-copper, as well as in various gold and silver combinations.

We also offer a custom design form if you are interested in a uniquely crafted item.
